What I Wore Last Night

No sewing going on this week yet, but I thought I'd fill in the empty space by showing you the latest Jalie Sweetheart top actually on me.

I had a dinner meeting last night with my new boss and a co-worker. (Still the same at-home job, but it's expanding.) It was a casual meeting and the first time we've actually all met in real life. But any opportunity to dress up a little more than my usual capris/tees home uniform is an opportunity I'm going to run with.

The photo was taken after I got back home, which is why I'm a wrinkled mess. It was humid and raining, then add a round trip in the car plus a couple of hours of just sitting and you get a wrinkled linen skirt that is also kind of shifted off to one side after getting out of the car. Oops. I didn't catch that until I saw the photos.

The skirt is the same Butterick 4877 that I made a couple of weeks ago. The green of the linen matches perfectly with the lighter green of the fabric. The photo does no justice to the in-real-life great color match.

I love this Jalie pattern! Do you think it would be too much if I had, say, 10 of them in my wardrobe? ;)

  3. Great outfit, happy to hear the at-home job is expanding. Sounds like great news. I think 10 is a nice number for that top!

  4. You can't get any better than that! :) I'm sure you could get away with having many versions of that top....

  5. Oh, I really, really like those colors! Great outfit!

  6. I think you need at least a dozen of those- sure wouldn't stop at 10. Of course you will want another dozen when the seasons change or I would. I really hope if I buy the Jalie I will have enough sense to make the alterations if I should attempt it. I think lacking your ability to do the alterations would be the stumbling block here. I already have the skirt pattern from the last .99 sale - the whole outfit is great looking ! mssewcrazy

  7. A dozen? Why not? It looks different in every fabric. After I made all the alterations to Simplicity 4076 tee, so far I've made seven. I love that skirt too. Very nice outfit. I need to make one of those cool sweetheart tops. They look so good on you.

  8. That is so cute! I love greens, and you really made the most of the print of that top. I see no reason you shouldn't have 10 sweetheart tops.

  9. What a great outfit! I found your blog via Domestic Diva. I was trying to find someone out there who had a fabric stash about the size of mine. I love how yours is organized. Mine is all in plastic totes in the garage (finally labeled them a couple of days ago). I like the idea of shelving in the closet. I may definitely have to try it and I definitely will be visiting your blog in future. I love your taste in clothes and patterns!!

  10. Ten Jalies, twenty Ottobres, who's counting? :) I need to make more of these as I love this pattern too. I hope the company was enjoyable for your dinner meeting. Always a bit hard when dining with 'strangers'.

  11. Gorgeous, there's that "look good, feel good, look good" thing again! The style and colours are so right; if you find 9 more tops fabrics in shades that look so good, then go girl. (and I am so going to buy that skirt pattern) OllieV

  13. I love it! The outfit is great and 10 seems like a reasonable number of tops! Thanks for the picture and the great reviews!

  15. It is such a fabulous top, you could not possibly have too many. Marie Alison on SDU posted some catalogue photos that looked like this top with a horizontal gather in the middle instead of the vertical. I thought it looked really cute, I am trying a version like that next.

  16. Your other t-shirt patterns are going to get jealous. I've made it twice, but I see many more in my future too.

  17. I didn't like the top when you posted the photos on the dummy before but now seeing this, I type corrected. I love it, well done!

  18. In all different colors, make the Jalie top over and over. It fits very nicely. I like how several of you used the same fabric and yet everything is so different, depending on how you used the pattern! And the top and skirt look wonderful together!

  19. I love this top, and got in too late on Jalie this time so I'll be sending my order directly (since I live in Canada, anyway). I must get this pattern, it's so feminine and since the range of sizes is so great, I can use it for my dgds also. I see a lot of T's this style in the stores. But wow, the different ways I am seeing this one print used. Everyone whose photos I've seen, has hilighted a different part of this gorgeous design and none of them look alike. The fabric itself is famous - is there any left?. It kind of reminds me of the "coffee cup flannel" from years ago.
