Peek-A-Boo

So, here's a sideways view of the fabric closet. All looks fairly normal, right? (Note the stepstool at the bottom of the pic, for reference.)

I'm sitting at the cutting table and I hear some rustling sounds. I think they're coming from the fabric closet.

Yep! There's a critter in the closet. (See stepstool on the left.)

Not just any critter, though. It's Chili! He found the bin of fleece scraps in the corner and has made himself a nest. He stuck his head out because he thought he might be in Big Trouble, but all I did was laugh and point him back into the corner, where he promptly settled in for a nap.

While Chili was napping, I cut out panties from scraps (with NASCAR vrooming on the tube in the background).

And stared some more at the CJ crossover top still in progress. I like the top. I like the fabric. But there's not enough give in the fabric and so I don't like it on me. Sigh. This will be a sausage casing wadder until I drop 10-20. And at the rate of things around here, that ain't happening anytime soon.

In other news, I bought a new-to-me car this week. It's an orange Chrysler Pacifica. I've never had an orange car before but it's one of my colors, so why not. It matches my hair. LOL! I sure hope Chrysler is still around in 6 months, but my warranty is serviceable anywhere in the country, so I won't worry about that aspect. I just hate seeing all the businesses closing down this year. And a Big Three car maker? Who would've thought.

  1. LOL. I was trying to figure out what kind of a critter you were talking about, and then there was Chili. Cute picture. Congrats on the car. The number of people who will be out of jobs and business if the auto industry tanks is mind boggling.

  3. Okay I'm going to need the pattern number that you are using for the undies...after having paid $4.99 a pair for some all I could think was that I could make these. I'm still not into making bras...but panties...yeah I'm there!

    Nice car, btw!

  4. Congratulations on the new vehicle! Help stimulate the economy. I also bought a car a couple of days ago.

I used to make panties, using Stretch and Sew patterns, which I still have. It was fun. Maybe I'll search for lingerie fabric and make some one of these days.

    Congratulations on your new car.

  7. LOL about Chili! At least it was a cuddly critter this time. :)

Congrats on the car. Very swish! I bet you're more than glad to have your car again and I hope Alex doesn't have his eye on it. :)

Pity about the tee as I like the fabric combo. I've had tops like this before. Not good for the ego.

  8. Congrats on the car I drove a Chrysler for years! It was the first new car I owned and the first one I bought myself. I would absolutely by another one next time around.

  9. Knickers are such a nice project, practically instant gratification. I have a pair of tap pants on the cutting table as we 'speak'. Congratulations on your new car! Work must be going well. Chili is cute as ever :)

  11. Love the car and the top! I bought a new car last Saturday. The offical color is Sunset Bronze Mica.. kinda brown/orange/goldish.
Chili is so cute! I don't blame him from making the nest, it sure looks cozy in there.
Are panties really easy to make? That seems to be an interesting project. Where do you get the supplies?

  12. That Chili gets cuter every day! An orange car--how cool. When I bought my Beetle, I seriously considered a tomato red (orange) one, but decided on silver to match my roots.

  13. Thanks for the pics of Chili, your fabric and your new car! Chili has quite a space there, doesn't he? How fun.

  14. It's like old times on the blog getting doggie updates from Chili. Nice car Debbie. Let's don't discuss what we could wear with a minus 10 to 20. At least it makes a really cute covering for the dress form when not in use. Mine is just ugly with its big gaps between its brown sections. It does not even own a wadder that is fit to leave out. mssewcrazy

  15. that's so cute, but what about dog hair? I always yell at my dalmatian if he even gives my fabric a second look!

  16. Sorry there's not enough give in the fabric. It looks soooo cute.

That's a great critter to have in the closet. lol.

  17. Congrats on the new car! I, too, am hoping that Chrysler will still be around, since I still have warranty left on my Jeep. Your puppy is adorable. My 100 lb monster is too big to sleep in the scrap box, but that doesn't mean he doesn't try. That is, if the cats aren't already in it ;)

  18. Aw, sweet poochie! You haven't done doggie posts in a while.

Me & Carolyn want the panty pattern girlie.

Hey...when we were in St. Pete summer before last my rental was an orange Chrysler Pacifica!!! Does it have Essence of Angie in it?? ;) I LOVED that dang car. I even test drove several when I got home to buy one, but it really wasn't in the budget so I eventually came to my senses.

  19. My dog Princess will claim any piece of fabric that falls on the floor, and has been seen pulling fabric (mainly fleece) scraps out of the trash can in my sewing room! She and Chili would get along just fine!
