Cover Me, I'm Going In! (V8648)

I'm going to have some time on my hands for another week or so. I'm in the middle of overdue dental work and my mouth is currently in no condition for interviews or employment agencies (or chocolate!). But I decided to selfishly get this work done now while a certain someone's income would be paying for it. Would you believe he hasn't even noticed? Unfortunately, that's not really a big surprise to me.

While I'm in limbo I decided to start a complicated project, Vogue 8648, View A. (The one on the model who is my body twin, right? Yeah.)

If you don't hear from me in a few days, send in a search (and alterations) party. And more muslin.

  4. Ummmm can you send up a few alteration posts on this one. I have this pattern and have wanted to make it but have been to busy to do all of the alterations that I will probably need for it. So any breadcrumbs you could leave for me during your alteration journey would be appreciated!

  6. I made that dress! The sheath and the full circle style - and I use the sheath skirt as my pencil skirt TNT with the Jenny waistband! I Love, love, love it! I didn't really include a lot of info on the muslin/alteration process, but I think I just taped the pieces together (of the bodice), did an FBA and then cut them apart. Here's the sheath version and here's the full circle version.

I love the style and will likely make again - the only problem I have with the dress is that I have narrow shoulders and the neckline is a bit too wide for me. I had to put in loops to hook on to my bra, otherwise both versions slide off my shoulder. Also, I can only wear with a few bras, as the neckline dips low enough to show off the underoos at the corners in the front - something I totally missed on the muslin when I made the sheath version as I didn't turn back the seam allowance. I fixed for the full circle version, though, I think.

Have fun! It's a great style! I'd love to make it with contrasting fabric!

  10. Love this dress, it is just what I have been shopping rtw for, to now avail. When I make it, it will require a significant fba, which I have been wanting to learn. I have seen yours and others in blogland, and I am going to get brave and just do it... So, I will be waiting to see yours. Have fun with it!

  11. Looks fabulous, I'm sure that you will figure out how to rock this pattern. That being said, be careful when sewing (or cutting) while using those happy pills...

Oy. The motivation for the dental work is good at bottom (I like your attitude too), but the implementation can be a horror. Make sure you have a really easy project on hand, t-shirt or something, for those times where anesthesia is required.. I've been known at times like this to make those long skirts with pointy crotch sticking out, or swap the sleeves..

  15. I can believe he hasn't noticed. Heartbreak does that to a person. Many kisses to you, and remember the most powerful, mysterious force in the universe is the one that will heal you: LOVE. It takes away my hurts and replaces them with contentment. There are many role models for divorce, but if you're searching for one for reconciliation there's Mrs Clinton. All these years later--look at the life she has. Supported by her husband. Love healed her too. Just saying, because so many people advise walking away these days, and it's hard to find someone who champions the opposite. BTW, my mouth and tongue are still numb from dental work this afternoon :)

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
