A Present for ME

This will be released on November 15. And on a complete whim last night I pre-ordered one and it will be here November 17. Along with a green leather case. And just in time for my trip north.

Will an iPad be far behind? ;-)

  1. You are going to love it. I am an avid reader and have the samsung tablet and initially missed the paper/hardcovers, but the weight of carrying a book in my purse quickly help me get over that. Also, I love uploading tutorials to my tablet for ease of reference, the whispsync feature, music, videos... did I say you are going to love it...

  2. I have been looking at those to but as a SAHM I don't 'need' one. Can you write a reveiw after you get it? I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

  3. I love my Kindle so know you will love this. Another friend has also pre-ordered one, too. Review please:) Also, if you are an Amazon Prime member you can now borrow books.

An iPad is definitely in my future. I looked at them yesterday but can't decide which one I want.

  5. I am itching for them to release the colour Kindle in the UK!

Now all we need is for all the pattern/sewing magazines to produce e-editions too :)

  7. How fun! I have the Kindle app on my iPhone and truly do not know how I lived without it all this time. No more boring waiting in line or at the doctor's office or....

I will say this, though, the Kindle use drains my iPhone battery like nothing else. I've considered getting a full Kindle, but I'm just not sure how much I'd use it given that I have the app on both my phone and laptop.

  9. I ordered one too! I left my Kindle in the sea tback pocket of a flight to Chicago early last month! Of course American Airlines lost and found hasn't called....so I just ordered the newer Kindle Fire. My husband thinks it was left on purpose :-)!

    You will LOVE it!

  10. My father bought my step mother a Kindle and she couldn't figure out how to use it - so I read the manual and then taught her! Wow! They are great. I loved it. Now I want one . . . I think you'll use it lots and really enjoy having it, too. And furthermore, you deserve it!

  11. As a first generation Kindle owner, I love it and my new Kindle Touch is a few weeks away from delivery! I want to remind everyone that the Fire is not the same as the Kindle Reader; Kindle Fire is a tablet like the ipad. It's going to run the Android system and should be an awesome piece of technology, and if I didn't have an ipad I'd be tempted to order one. But for just reading, and the e-ink technology, choose one of the regular Kindles, with a variety of price points.

    Clear as mud?

  12. As a writer, I was really wedded to what I used to call "real" books. Then I got a Kindle and whamo! Instant love. I actually read MORE with a kindle (and have an ebook available as well). I have the b/w Kindle with the keyboard and LOVE it, as I can take notes and look up words right in the text. Plus sampling books is really fun, and I've discovered a lot of writers that way. The Fire is on my wish list as an iPad is pretty pricey.

Looking forward to your review and good for you - we all need presents from ourselves, to ourselves!

Debbie you will love having an ereader! I have a Kobo and totally love it even though it's not the nice new touch screen one. That will be my xmas present this year I am certain. I take my ereader every where and probably read about 2 hours minimum every day. And to keep this Sewing related - - there are lots of cool old sewing books that you can download from places like Project Gutenberg or 4shared. Lots of free books available - I had mine for a year and a half before I bought any books.

  14. You will LOVE this. I want one; but I have the Nook Color. 2 would be hard to justify! It is a bit hard to read in bright outdoor daylight tho...for that the e-ink screens are better. As for an I Pad....my husband won one and while it is tons of fun it DOES NOT replace the e reader. My color nook has much better screen resolution than the nook or kindle apps on the I pad for reading. Now if Threads Magazine would just publish as a digital.....

  16. I bought a Kindle keyboard last week (I couldn't wait for the Kindle Fire.) I've always been a reader, but i'm reading more since I got the kindle. I can carry it with me everywhere and steal 5 or 10 minutes to read. You're going to love it!

  17. I have an iPad and read books and magazines on it. I still have books because I love flipping those pages but I read both equally. When you go to get an iPad buy it with the 3G, the wireless is nice but having 3G is fantastic because I can use my iPad everywhere!

My sister and I bought my Mom one for Mother's Day and she absolutely adores hers. Her laptop sits unused because the iPad is just so much easier to use.

I'm sure you will love your Kindle but boy will you love the iPad!

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
