TGIF

It's been a busy work week and I'm so glad the weekend is here. I need the rest. It's a good busy, but still …

Speaking of work — look at the torture I've had to avert the last 4 months. These are the "birthday cakes." Every month on the middle Friday, they order in a bunch of cakes, pies, and cookies to celebrate that month's birthdays. I've been good and haven't had even a bite of any of these FOR FOUR MONTHS. But I do stop by and look at them. Today, I brought my cell camera to share the torture with you. Actually, it's not really too much torture. I'm so used to not eating sweets and carbs that these are easy to pass up, and I have the greater goal in mind. If I'm still around in March, maybe I'll request a veggie tray?? ;-)

Waiting for me when I got home was my houndstooth order from Gorgeous Fabrics. I'm hoping I get a chance to at least start my skirt this weekend. It would be nice to even finish it and pair it with a yet-to-be-bought sparkly red top for the Christmas lunch on the 16th. Beall's had a few, so maybe I'll stop by there tomorrow while I'm out.

For now, it's off to the sewing room to work on an OOO RAH wallet for my FNSI project. If I get that done, the skirt is next.

  1. Oh, I know the torture you are talking about - and we are entering the holiday season (when every vendor under the sun sends something edible since that is the only gift our parent company will allow in the place), when we will receive enough fruit, nuts, tins of cookies, cakes, and other specialty baked goods, plus chocolate in every form known to man. And the boss will parcel this out over the holiday season so that there is literally one new thing out on the breakroom counter all...the....time. This process usually takes him through Valentine's Day, after which we all roll out of the office to get our blood sugar checked. I, on the other hand, am determined to withstand this stuff this year.

  2. Oh, man, all that cake. Quel horror!

That houndstooth is beautiful. I have a giant houndstooth wool fabric and no idea when I'm going to get to it!

  5. Cake is my favourite thing, would be very hard to resist. How about some shots of your fat coworkers, from the back to protect the guilty!

  6. What temptations...the cake and the fabric. At least you are good in one area :)

  7. Good Lord -- They do the cake torture EVERY SINGLE MONTH?!! That's positively evil! No way could I be as strong as you and munch celery sticks while my coworkers gorged on cakes! That's why YOU are fitting into SMALLER clothes, and I am finding that what used to be "comfy pants" are now fitting a bit too snugly for comfort...

  8. I am doing a pretty good job of avoiding processed carbs, as you, even through the treat-bringing season. Yesterday a spice cake appeared, and I had a piece about 1"x1"x2", which I thought was pretty good. That was the most processed carbs I'd had since Sunday morning, when I stupidly ate two pancakes. But, I think I'm getting better.

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
