Another Tease

This is where we had dinner Friday night. That's my sister sitting next to me (she's 6 ft tall and all torso so she always dwarfs me), and my mom sitting next to Tyler. Alex and mom's squeeze Bob were also there, but no photographic evidence bears that out.

I don't really have a lot of pics of me at the wedding, although I'm guessing I'll be in a few of the real ones judging by how many times I nearly tripped over photographers. I'll share some more wedding pics when I catch my breath.

In short, the wedding was beautiful, the reception was a blast, and I probably gained a few lbs this weekend because the food was INCREDIBLE. It was a great weekend. Only to be blasted back to reality Monday morning when we lost power overnight and I had to put on my make-up in the car and then drag my blow dryer, brushes, and hair spray to work to try to tame the bedhead. I arrived before 7 AM because it was either sit at home in the dark or get to work and sneak into the bathroom.

I dropped Tyler at the airport yesterday, after leaving work early and taking my boys to lunch in the "big city." I'll miss him, but I know he's happy so that's really all that matters.

I've got to start packing this weekend, because May is going to be here before I know it. Because I don't have enough to pack, I stopped at Beall's tonight and came home with 4 new tops and a pair of shoes. Am I insane?? Will I ever sew again?? Yes, just not for a while, because the stash closet is about to become packing material. Pun intended.

  1. OMG! You were in Palm Beach Gardens? I just passed (and noticed for the first time!) that restaurant today! Seems like you had a great time in my neck of the woods. You all look wonderful. Good luck with the packing. Been there done that - too much! But fabric does make great packing material. I am still missing things that will probably turn up in the middle of a bin of fabric someday when I pull it out for a project!

Amy, who's been following you since finding you years ago on PR because you were kinda my size and I was tired of looking at reviews of skinny women... Now I need to get to your new size so I can use you as a reference again! LOL

  3. Wow, Deb - you and I have exactly the same sibling conformation: My sister is 6' tall as well. I always complain that I want an apple box to stand on when we have pictures taken because if we stand together, I practically have my head at her armpit level. And now that her daughter has reached her full height (which is 6'1" in her socks), it's only worse. BUT, having said that, I think you look great in that turquoise top and you looked great in that wedding shot with your very very handsome sons (mmmmmmm, love a guy in uniform!).

  4. OK, you and Toby aren't the only 2 with a sister 6' tall. I have one also and try to avoid the armpit pictures. BTW Deb, you look great!

  5. Moving. It feels like I haven't sewn in eons and may never sew again. I hear this ends. I'm considering recordings of a sewing machine in action as background music. Could be soothing.

Glad you had fun at the wedding.

  6. Glad you said how tall your sister was cause I was gonna ask! She looks (including height) almost identical to a good friend of mine and I was about to think I was on the wrong blog...funny thing, her sister's name is Debbie.

I agree about the turquoise top, you look amazing in it. Glad all had a good time at the wedding and too bad you can't just twitch your nose and have the packing done. It will all be behind you soon tho and you will be a very happy camper. Good luck with the packing and move.

  7. Lovely pictures, you look like you had a great time! Turquoise is definitely your color.

I always get to the point, halfway through moving, where I consider chucking everything and buying new when I get there. This is why we haven't moved for ten years. Next time around, we'll have to hire a dumpster for all the random crap that's crammed into this house!

  8. You look great in these pictures. I feel for your packing woes. I haven't moved for 12 years and I sometimes think how terrible it would be if we had to move. I would like to get a couple of our rooms re-carpeted, but just packing one or two rooms puts me off, even with thread-bare carpets.

  9. I knew from the face who your sister was, but I was thinking, "Dang! Why is that woman sitting on a high stool?" Glad to learn that she's just really tall. You look really great, and I'm glad you had such a fun filled weekend.

  10. Glad to hear you had a super weekend! As for the tallies in the family, I am 5'6", hubby is 6'4", 18yr old daughter is 6'2" and 16 yr old son is 6'5" (and still growing). Sometimes I feel like I don't even get a look in with family photo's as I fit under all armpits...

  12. Just got back from Florida. You are right- Beall's is amazing! They have lots of good stuff there marked down. I struck it rich with swim suits there. Florida has better suits than up North. I have also lost weight and was thrilled to buy a smaller size at Bealls. The dress looks great on you.

  13. My youngest daughter is 5' 10" and my middle daughter is 5' 4" like yourself and your sister there is a huge difference in height.

  14. Good luck with the move! The fabric stash is definitely not unnecessary weight and boxes, it is crucial for protecting the valuables.
