Random Monday Thoughts

1. I still haven't sewn a stitch.
2. But I'm thinking about it.
3. Especially since my gift from Elaray's giveaway arrived last week. (Thanks so much!)
4. The RNC is in town.
5. What a PITA.
6. Since last Thursday, I'm not working at my usual location, and instead we've been temporarily moved to the firm's main Tampa offices near the airport.
7. My commute is now twice as long.
8. Thankfully it's only for a week and a half.
9. And they ARE nice offices with lots of new-to-me faces to put to the names.
10. I was hoping we'd have today off due to Hurricane Isaac, especially since all area schools are closed.
11. No such luck.
12. But traffic was very light this morning, so that's a plus.
13. The Marine is in the middle of a Typhoon going over Okinawa right now.
14. So we're "sharing" hurricanes/typhoons thousands of miles apart.
15. He was supposed to get on a ship last week and be "at sea" for a couple of months but the impending storm delayed their departure.
16. Which he doesn't mind a bit.
17. And neither do I, since communication will be almost zero once he's on board.
18. Someone asked, and YES!! Still loving my job.
19. And no, there's no new man.
20. I've just been a lazy slug blogger is all.
21. Frankly, I wouldn't even know where to meet any new (or old) men right now.
22. Not that I'm really looking.
23. And with that, it's time for work.

  1. Debbie, I hope your commute is smooth this week. Probably best to keep out of the fray, protestors and all. Glad things are going well.

  2. A potential hurricane and a city full of conventioneers!!! I'll pray for you!. (And you're welcome!)

  3. So glad you posted again, I hover over my reader looking for a post by you :-D --- I miss all the old Sew4 people. New man -- pish posh :-D -- I know when I got divorced years ago I spent 2 years not dating, just enjoying life, I felt a man was so unnecessary :-P but I'm glad I finally met the one I have! Stay safe from the hurricane & the RNC !

  4. Good evening, only the fabric rose tutorial is available with pictures. Please, is something wrong with the tutorials? Thank you very much!

  5. Glad to hear you're OK. You don't need a new man, they interfere with your sewing time.

  6. So happy to see that you are back. I really enjoy your blog and missed seeing updates. I have been single for 15 years after I had been married for 20--finished raiseing 3 great kids by myself. I always say if I started dating, it would have to be breakfast since I'm too tired to stay out at night! All in good time if it is meant to be. Hang in there!

  7. Glad to see you back! I'm on the run from Issac, myself (I live in Gulf Shores, AL) I brought my sewing machine, computer and cat. Left the husband at home (he wanted to stay, I didn't)

  8. Thank you, all problems with pictures are gone! Thank you very much for the tutorials and everything! During these days I will read only your blog!!! Thank you for all your effort!

  9. I concur with the RNC, but it is also in Pinellas county. Law enforcement presence everywhere. Clearwater Beach they are on every street and on foot.

Dislike the longer commute. Only a few more days until the RNC is over. I can only hope they spent lots of extra tourism $$$ in the Tampa Bay area. That would make all the inconveniences worth it!

  10. Maybe after your commute goes back to normal, you'll feel like sewing! I haven't done much either, so I'm glad I'm not the only one being lazy.

  11. Debbie:

Your link to a comparison chart on overlock machines isn't working. Is it possible to fix it? I would love to see the comparisons.

  12. Good luck surviving the commute! I would be so annoyed if my commute doubled. It is nice to put faces with names from other offices, though.

  13. 7 September.
If you're not sewing, then I'm not sewing.
    Crack the whip!

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
