Marrakesh Express

Someone else just used that blog title and I hope they're reading and now have that song in *their* mind all day long. ;-)

So, they're done (the Hot Patterns Marrakesh Drawstring pants in case you're wondering). The review is here. Main pics are below. It's linen. It wrinkles when you just look at it.

I also had time yesterday to work on another Sunshine top. I should finish it tonight. Here it is in progress. The browns are less red than they appear in this pic.

Parting Shot: Alex and India setting out to Trick or Treat. Yes, they're 17 and a little too old for ToT'ing, but since they were both in full costume, I don't think anyone minded too much - judging by the piles of candy they brought back. Yes, we Trick or Treat in flip-flops and shorts here. Lest you think it's not fair, it really does put a major crimp in costume choices since most are just way too hot for kids to want to wear and they start stripping at about the 5th house of the night and any face paint drips off shortly thereafter. No, Alex and India did not strip. ;-)

  2. Love those pants! I must order that pattern.

I don't care about "older" trick-or-treaters as long as they are in costume and polite, I'll give them candy! :)

  3. Very nice pants. I just treated my self to a reread of some of your sewing tips and tutorials. I want to post links to your creations in the American Sewing Guild in the Rio Grand Valley group on FB.

Nice to see the "older" kids can still enjoy ToT'ing.

  8. That's the second time I've seen someone in that bee costume today :) And one of my cousins was a ladybug, and her husband a ladybug exterminator :)

  9. I don't care how old anyone is when it comes to Trick or Treat as long as they wear costumes!!! Actually I love to see the older kids get dressed up. Halloween is my all time favorite holiday.

  10. I broke down and ordered the Sunshine top -- it's all your fault. I love how it looks on you. Can't wait to see the new one finished.

  14. The sunshine top, and Marakeesh pants are fab - YES I now have the song in my head - but it's not a bad song!
Yeah, youngest dd (8th grade) went ToTing, and I'm not sure how old middle dd was when she last went. I think a big part of it is that they get to dress up! Middle dd bought a costume about a month ago for a charity function (and then was unable to attend, because it was at a BAR!!) but she was able to wear it to a party Sat, and was happy!
BTW, they may be wear flip-flops and shorts there, but will you have a temp of 94? OMG! It's Nov 3 for pete's sakes!!!

  16. Those pants look great! Wonderful from the back. Okay, I'm moving them up in the rotation since I'm working on pants now (ugh). Is the weather ever going to cool down?

  17. Why is there a pull in the front crotch?
From personal experience, I know not to alter a crotch curve is you can make changes to the back curve to get the required fit. I don't know if you altered but it is of interest to me because I have this pattern and I am hoping for fairly good results without major re-drafting of the original pattern.

  18. Love these pants! Are the yardage and notions requirements on the back of your envelope. Unfortunately, my envelope is printed on both sides with the fashion drawing. HP folks are busy, so far no answers from them. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only pattern that doesn't have the fabric/notions online. How weird is that?!

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
