It Happened Again

This Swedish beauty is on its way to me. It's a Viking 2000 and pretty much a mechanical duplicate of its younger sister, my Viking 6010. But look at that lovely green metallic. How could I resist?

It doesn't have a foot pedal (my 6010's will fit) and I have no idea if it even really works. But for $25.85 plus shipping, it can just sit on a shelf and look pretty and I will be OK with that. It does match the walls and will make a lovely "accessory." Although I have a sneaking suspicion that it will work fine. These machines are tanks, after all, and this one looks fairly pristine.

Of course, I do need to get that shelf to house and display my little growing herd. I think if I get my mom's table runner & napkins finished, I'll reward myself with a trip to IKEA over the weekend.

  3. She's purty! Fingers crossed for no shipping issues. I know you have moved on from the cosmetic damage the last one received, but I haven't ;-)

  4. Ha ha Meredith. Yes, I have moved on and really hardly even notice it since I love the machine for how it sews. But that doesn't mean I'm not hoping for the newest acquisition to arrive trouble-free. :-)

  5. And your need for a shelf is exactly why I avoid the auctions. Of course, the last time my workhorse machine was in for a tune-up, I sent my daughters to Target for a lightweight backup, and, while they were out, bought a Janome at auction for about the same price as your pretty green Viking. Life is so hard for those of us who collect things!

  6. You have to stop buying machines! Your posts tempt me to copy-cat, and I *really* don't need more machines.

If you get a Viking 21, DO NOT POST ABOUT IT! Please!

  7. Well, I can tell you from experience (26 machines and counting!) that this is a slippery slope you are on, girl!

I have several golden oldie Singers on the shelves in my guest room. They all work but I just like to look at and admire them. They are from an era when companies really cared about quality.

  8. In that muted green, it definitely had your name written all over it. You have quite the collection!!

  9. Nice addition to your collection! It sounds like a trip to IKEA is a good idea!

  10. These posts are dangerous, woman. They send me straight to ebay. How about a post on how you peruse ebay (or wherever) and make your decisions on which machines to bid on? Just keep the enabling going.

  11. I love the litle suitcase it fits into!

  12. I think that you have a new addiction!
    I thought that you had a 6010. What's the difference between a 6010 and a 6020? There have been 6010s for available.

  13. $28.85 plus shipping? Debbie I'm calling the cops, you stole it! Seriously, I had a refrigerator in avocado green, which I really loved (why does everyone say avocado green fridges are dated?)
The matching suitcase (your really got it for a song) reminds me of the bomb squad, or some spy vs. spy intrigue.

  14. Who could possibly resist a sewing machine that's green? Not me, it's my favorite color. I have never seen a Viking in any of the thrift stores I visit. I guess that shows how good they are --no one wants to get rid of them.

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
