Awesome job. Tell DS that he could be easily mistaken for Charlie Sheen's cousin, or stand-in. Except for the red hair. That's a giveaway. :) You do such excellent work, Debbie.
Love that shirt! You did a fantastic job and your son looks great in it. It's a very flattering style. I like that it's done in the black and blue as well. Manly!
That is a great shirt and a good looking model. Tell him thank you for the photographs. He probably should qualify for another Charlie Sheen shirt for his modeling pay. Mom deserves kudos as well. mssewcrazy
The hand-on-the-chin pose is so Sears catalog from about 1965 -- we used to get those catalogs at home all the time and the poses for the male models are classic. Great shirt too - I'm definitely going to get that pattern and make some from my son.
Good looking shirt. Your son's hair is just like my sons'! He must really suffer in your sun! Even here in the north, we have to hide from midday summer sun. Are you going to make more shirts for this lucky guy?
Very sharp shirt! Looks great on the model as well. I love your idea to avoid ironing at all costs--and it will stay unwrinkled while being worn as well. Super!
W.O.W. What a strapping young lad!! I have to be honest, when I saw the pattern you posted, I wasn't so sure. It looked dated, and not in a good way. (I think it was the color that kept me from noticing the style lines.) However, now I'm totally sold. I see that you made your son's without as much ease as the model on the pattern cover. I think this gives it a modern look. More hipster, less Tony Soprano.
I just showed this post to my BF and he said he'd love for me to make him a shirt like yours. Problem is I've never made a guy's shirt and he needs a FBA (full BELLY adjustment). I'm thinking that a pattern like this with princess seaming (feels weird to say "princess" when you're talking about a garment for men) might be just the thing I need to get a good fit. Thanks for the inspiration!
I have this pattern in my stash and now need to move it to the top of the list. I bought my husband a Nat Nast shirt that was incredibly expensive, looked it over carefully and decided that I could duplicate it in heavy tencel instead of heavy silk -- so I bought the pattern and promptly forgot about my plan. Thanks for the kick in the rear to move forward with my plans.
I have a question for you that isn't really related to this shirt, but an old post of yours. What color of SW paint did you use for your son's room, and what is it that you used for the metal molding around his room? I LOVE THAT ROOM! I want to paint my son's room red and black, but I cannot figure out what shade of red. Thanks so much! I've been admiring your work for a while now! Awesome! ;-)
Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.

WOOO! Great looking shirt and better looking son. (Don't take that the wrong way, now!)
ReplyDeleteI think HE likes it, too!! :)

ReplyDeleteYour son looks better in his terrific shirt than the model on the pattern envelope!(A future career? ;-) )
