Impatient
Drive-by post today.
So, I was out last night running some errands — and getting my hair cut waaaaay too short, ugh — and I stopped in at Joann's to pick up the above new Butterick. My son graduates high school early next month and I thought this would be a nice dress to wear to that (remember, we're pretty casual here in Florida) and then wear the rest of the summer. Maybe even sew/buy a cardi to wear with it in the A/C. Cute new sandals/thongs, and I'd be set. I was even going to pay full price for it so I could start this weekend. Well, not really full price since Buttericks are 50% off all the time at J's, but still …
You know where this is going, right?
Yeah. Joann's didn't have it, or any of the new Buttericks, or the new Butterick catalog. Sheesh, they only had one old Butterick catalog total. But there were plenty of McCall's, Vogues, Simplicities, and even a couple of Burdas.
Now what am I going to do this weekend??
C'mon Club BMV sale. I'm waiting here ready to buy my wish list …

So I know a few of you watch Deadliest Catch. Keith and Jonathan had that argument in the season opener. OK. But … where the heck has Keith & The Wizard been since? Did he quit the show? And is Jake Anderson not the most adorable deckhand ever? I just want to squooosh him. ;-)
And another random thought — what do you think of those "You Might Also Like" thumbnails just below this? It's a widget that I'm selfishly enjoying for myself when I see long-forgotten posts. But then I'm easy to entertain.

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.

That just burns me! Same thing happened to me last week, picked out a pattern to sew for a gift, got to JAF only to find that it wasn't in the drawer and had to find something else on the spot. Arrrgh!
ReplyDeleteButtericks are on sale March 13-16 for 99 cents at Hancock Fabrics (not "of Paducah"). If they did have them, it's the second day, so chances are the new patterns are gone, but you could try (if you have a Hancocks in your town).
ReplyDeleteI was just in my Hancocks on Monday and they didn't have the pattern catalog either. Didn't check the drawers for them because I didn't have the number that I was looking for...I feel your pain. Oh, and the you might also like this....I LIKE it!
ReplyDeleteMy Hancocks doesn't have them yet, though Buttericks are on sale this weekend. Joann only ever has one of the Butterick books for some reason... I wonder if they are only sent one copy?
ReplyDeleteI love the Deadliest Catch, too. Keith is still around, they showed where Johnathan ran over one of Keith's pots either this or last week. And yes, Jake A. is adorable. I love the interchange between Phil and his son Jake, who loves to push his buttons. So sad about Capt Phil, too.
ReplyDeleteSame here too - I have still not figured out their secret schedule. That's a cute dress :)
ReplyDeleteI like the widget but I'm impatiently waiting for your tutorials to be back up!
ReplyDeleteI like the dress. Cute and cool for your weather.
I just looked and you've got your coverstitch stuff up, yeh! I am finally going to learn how to use my binders, and by the way, cool set up with all the pictures of the machines, stupid question. Do I cut off the sas on the garment? I am assuming that the folded edge of the binding is what was formerly the stitching line of the garment.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute dress pattern. It reminds me of that HP sunshine top you make that is so cute. I was on a roadtrip and popped into a Hancock's - no new book or new patterns. Of course I consoled myself with some .99 cent ones just because I was there and they were on sale. We need to support the pattern companies -right? mssewcrazy
ReplyDeleteDebbie, FYI, sewingpatterns.com has them on sale now, limit 10pp, 2.99 each, plus P&H.
ReplyDeleteHTH
I tried the 99 cent sale at my local Hancock's Fabrics, and they didn't have any of the new patterns...I was miffed! They did have the catalog with the new patterns, but not the patterns.
ReplyDeleteHP has a new dress pattern out. It looks cute.
ReplyDeleteThey have also published a new bag pattern. I wonder if the world needs a new bag pattern.
This happens to me all the time! In fact EVERY time! But now I've befriended a nice young man at JoAnn's and he goes in the back and gets them for me. Proof that they don't put them out until after the sale!
ReplyDeleteWhen Vogue were on sale a few months ago I found all the new ones hidden in an empty cabinet at one of the other stores.
Check out sewingpatterns.com I got an e-mail this morning that their new buttericks are on sale for 2.99 per pattern with a limit of 10! Thought that might help you out!! judy
ReplyDeleteI was going to try Hancock's this weekend, but they NEVER have the patterns out this early. So I go, hoping that they are out, and spend too much money on things I don't need...and end up there for the next sale anyway for the patterns I wanted. I really like that dress, I may have to add it to my list!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful choice for a graduation dress. I really like it.
ReplyDeleteI really like the
"you might like" thumbnails :) I need to change my settings/blogger host? who are you with? and heck ~ I'm thrilled to see my name on your side board lol :))) Love your blog!
I love the Deadliest Catch, and I think Keith was embarrassed and did not let them shoot that much. I also think Jake is a cutey-putey!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is seriously cute. I just acquired Betzina's Vogue 1173 which is quite similar with a cowl neck, pockets and outside darts. I'm very anxious to make it, but I'll bet you beat me.
ReplyDeleteCute dress pattern and hope you get the pattern.
