New Buttericks

I don't usually post about new pattern releases because a number of other bloggers do and I enjoy their posts and hilarious snark more than what I would write. But Butterick has caught my eye this time and now I can't wait for the next BMV sale. Especially since the last Kwik Sew and McCall's releases were a snooze fest or completely age inappropriate. ;-)

Below are those that will immediately be in my shopping cart. There are also more that I like but I don't think would be a good match for my body or my life. Of course that doesn't mean I still won't buy any of them.

These first two will almost definitely get made up this summer. A couple of the others are sleeveless and the return of summer heat is making me rethink my stance about sleeveless on me. If nothing else, I can certainly wear them around the house and yard during the day and be comfortable. The fourth one below I'll probably shorten into a top for a little bit different take on my beloved Hot Patterns Sunshine Top.

  1. I like the first one, it's similar to a BWOF top and dress from last year. It's a great style for your climate.

  2. Those are some cute patterns--thanks for sharing! Do you think it would be possible to do the Weekend Sunshine top as a dress? I've made a few tops from that and really like it.

  3. I definitely think the Sunshine top would work as a dress. If I recall, Trudy of HP even shows a dress incarnation in one of the videos for this pattern.

  4. Love the new look of your blog!

I have the same new Butterick's in my shopping cart waiting for a BMV Butterick sale.

I don't do sleeveless either, but I am going make up a couple of those for around the house wear.

  5. I have this first one in BWOF too, and it is already altered! I should actually make this up. I like your other choices, especially the sleeveless with the inset waist. Very neat and clean. You could always make a short sleeve sheer knit to throw on top if you want to go out and don't want to expose your upper arms.
This is the first time in a long while that I've haven't thought Butterick totally boring.

  6. I like the new look too! Very cool! I haven't been to excited about any of the new pattern releases lately. I guess that's good since I'm fasting anyway! LOL! I do like the twist top though.

  8. Oh those patterns are yummy aren't they?
I like the look of your new blog,Debbie. Where did you find it if you don't mind my asking!?

  9. I "found" it in my brain. The whole reason for the re-design is to avoid using someone else's ideas for a template. ;-)

  10. I like some of those as well. I usually look at the new patterns and then go back again and see if I really like them. I also like your new blog layout.

  11. Did you mistakenly put your blog in the washing machine? It is now void of all background colour. So strange to the 'naked' eyes...lol....

  12. Oooo! The first top is an exact copy of my favorite RTW top that I bought 3 different colors of from JC Penny last spring. Now I can make it in every color in the rainbow!

  13. I usually use Pivot and Slide to fit and I've been trying all day to wrap my head around how I'll do that with the first pattern (the Knip Mode lookalike) with the cut on sleeve.

  14. Nice picks! I am liking the bottom one the best. I know I could easily put that together from the millions of patterns I already own...but I still kind of want it.

  15. Interesting how a couple of these show them as regular top, long top and dress. I wonder why they don't do that more often. These are great summer tops, but I think winter has returned to my corner of the world. Here and I just made a couple of summer dresses. Sad.

I stay away from pattern sites, because I could drive myself nuts with new things to make!

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
