So, if you can look past the glare that is my fish underbelly legs, here's some outside tripod shots of the finished dress. I'm wearing cream colored shoes and they are darker than my legs. Oy.
I removed the tie at the neck, which means I now have a buttonhole that leads to nowhere. Oh well, it gets hidden in the elastic gathers.
I also elasticized the sleeve hems. As they were last night, they just seemed frumpy muu-muu to me.
And yes, I am sucking in for all it's worth, why do you ask? ;-)
Here's the back view.
I think I'll go unpack a couple of boxes and then buy some self-tanner.
That is such a cute dress on you! When did you manage to whip that out? Last I heard, you were buried under boxes in your sewing room!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely dress, Debbie. I guess nobody wears nude stockings in Florida...
ReplyDeleteOh heck yeah- I wear nude hose to work nearly everyday or else my legs would freeze.
DeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteYay! What a great first project back!
ReplyDeleteI'm used to blinding others too. Sigh. Spray tanning is also effective and can be more natural looking for a splurge now and then.
Pretty! Much better than my sad attempt.
ReplyDeleteTerrific and great color on you. I made one, too, in a python print jersey. I agree that it is not really office attire, but it's nice for weekends! Been reading you for more than a year -- Navy spouse -- love hearing about your Marine son (as well as all the great sewing).
ReplyDeleteGreat dress, and wonderful back yard. Glad you're settling in!
ReplyDeleteReally cute dress and love the fabric. I am enjoying your blog. So glad I found you.
ReplyDeleteCute dress!
ReplyDeleteAnd I could one-up you on the blindingly white legs, but every time I take a picture they cause the whole thing to overexpose! ;)
I say embrace the white legs! Always better than a fake tan if you ask me! Very cute dress and congrats on the first project out of the new sewing room.
ReplyDeleteYour dress: so cute!
ReplyDeleteClearly, Peter has never worn stockings in Florida. I have those same fish belly legs and I'm trying to embrace them for what they are.
ReplyDeleteCute dress!
Aw, nothing wrong with some blinding pins, embrace it as I do. Gorgeous frock!

I could blind you all. If it weren't for the freckles giving some coloration.
Not even gonna show the ghost belly.
Good job sorting out the machine cords, etc. in order to sew a dress. Happy vacation.
Glad you have settled in enough to be able to sew again, the new work area looks great.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is cute and looks comfortable too.
Debbie, that length is perfect for you!! And I wish that I worked in your office!! If I wore hose to my office, I would die of heat exhaustion!!! Love the new sewing room!! You go girl!

ReplyDeleteI know that stretched grin. Don't worry about your leg colour. you look great.
ReplyDeleteNo need to worry about the legs, really. They hold up the cute dress just fine. Although I'd say after all this unpacking you probably need a bit of time in the new pool as much as anything :-).
ReplyDeleteTan in a tube; love it. You have lizard hunting dogs, may I borrow them for a week? PLEASEEEEEEEE.
ReplyDeleteYou are looking good - relaxed and happy. Suck it in, let it out, so what My legs are blue they are so white!
ReplyDeletePretty darn cute dress, Debbie. I can't bear looking at my legs, they're so pasty. Eww.
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful! I wouldn't worry about the blinding white skin. At least you match all over (says the gal who ends up in at least three different skin tones every summer).
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at how quickly you can whip up a dress!
