Prayers Still Needed

I'm sorry that I haven't been updating but I just haven't been able to crawl out of my anger and depression. I still don't have a real job. I did start a temp job 3 weeks ago that will go another month or so, but it doesn't pay what I need for the bills so while it's better than crappy Florida unemployment, it's not something I'm really happy about and I am constantly worried about money, which SUCKS.

So that's it for an update.

Thanks for all of your comments, notes, and concern. I really do appreciate it. Hopefully, things will turn my way soon.

Sure hope something comes up soon. Have you thought about doing something in the sewing world? You have a good following. Contact some of the sewing companies maybe they could hire you.

  45. Hi Debbie, In the last week or so I got a couple of emails. Linda Z's needs an Admin and Quilter's Heaven needed a Bernina Rep.

Okay...but these are local here in the Chicagoland area and they are probably not that great pay...BUT my point is there seams to be a lot of opportunity out there in the sewing/quilting/sewing machine arena...kinda right up your hobby alley! I'll pray something comes your way!

  65. Dear one,
You are not alone. I would bet many of your commentators are going through similar things and millions are also suffering in the world with this same malady. My own husband was just laid-off with bogus reason and due to his age, it will be extremely hard for him to find another job. You are not alone. But your anger isn't going to help you. It's going to hurt you. What is....is! So go and deal with it and make it into something that stands as a tribute to your strength and courage and your innate worth!! This way is long and narrow and you will find that in reaching out to others, you will be helping yourself. We are in the midst of change never before seen...and you can survive by staying on top of your attitude and away from anger, jealousy and blame. So glad you posted.

  73. Hi Debbie, I don't know the source of the anger but if it was caused by the sudden way your former employer laid you off it's hard to do but try try try to let go of it because there is nothing you can do and there was nothing you could have done to prevent what happened. Most Americans (other than unions and CEO's who have actual work contracts) are "employees at will" and that means we can loose a job at anytime. That's just the way it is and you did all the right things trust me *hugs*

  74. Thank you for posting, Debbie. I've been in a similar situation, so I have some idea of what you're going through. My best wishes go out to you.

Since I have commented here before, I hope you won't think I'm a weirdo spammer when I say that my husband is a huge fan of Ramit Sethi, who gives tons of free advice on finding a great job. He's got lots of videos on Youtube. Might be worth checking out.

It seems to me that like a lot of sewists that sewing fundamental to your wellbeing so maybe it might be a good idea to get at that machine again and create somethig that will lift your heavy heart . I am sure that a person of your abilities WILL get a job but it might take a while so dont let yourself get to much more depressed especially since you lost all that weight and were chuugging along so well. I hope you dont throw something at your computer screen when u read this !! Lots of very positive thoughts and prayers . M

  88. Debbie, you may or may not know that I was unexpectedly laid off about a month after you were (and I am the family "breadwinner"). I don't know if you're on LinkedIn or not, but I landed 4 in-person interviews (and 2 offers and possibly a third) by applying for positions through there. Something to think about.

I just accepted a great offer with a top company in my industry. We'll be relocating to Seattle, but I'm looking at it as an adventure. So, I guess that I'm saying that there is hope and this being a "blessing in disguise" might not always be a cliche. Take care!

  95. Glad to see your post. Praying that you will receive strength to release the anger as it is only hurting you by taking up real estate in your mind (and not paying rent).
