Why is it that the no-thought projects become favs?
Sorry no pics of the remake outfit on me after wearing it today. I came home and quickly changed into my dog-walking clothes to hit the sidewalk with the pooches before the evening t-storms.
So, back to the topic ... I think the skirt and top took me 3 hours tops to make. Granted, I didn't have to do much for the skirt but even if from scratch that would've added maybe another hour. And after wearing them today, I know I'll be arguing with myself NOT to wear this combo every week. It's comfortable. It's pretty. It's flattering. I want to dig it out of the laundry basket and wear it again tomorrow. And I might even be tempted if a bright purple and yellow outfit wasn't just a little bit memorable. ;-)
A 3-hour outfit, comprised of pretty much scraps and basics. I think there's a lesson here.
I should say something about not sweating the small stuff, or something. Glad it worked out. I love having stuff I love. :-)
ReplyDeleteI make the same outfit over and over if I like it, just changing the fabric (usually knit). My TNT tee shirt with a 4 gore skirt, my TNT tee shirt with knit pants, my TNT tee shirt with shorts, with a tennis skirt...it's fast, easy, comfortable. And I don't think anyone who doesn't sew has a clue that it's the same pattern.
ReplyDeleteHa, same reason my kids who have all sorts of lovely toys end up playing with a stick for two hours! A good reminder for me that simplicity is often more appreciated than flounces and frills.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you back!
Sometimes you just need to go with the flow.
ReplyDeleteYou sound more like yourself in this post.
It is nice to make something nice and simple and fast every now and then, This might explain why I have made Loes Hinse Cruise Pants eight times this summer, only 5 have been for me though. I think I like them.
ReplyDeleteSo good to have you back. ♥
I really need to work on getting a TNT knit top pattern. I've discovered how much easier it is to wear them for work!
ReplyDeleteDebbie it is SO WONDERFUL to see you posting again.
ReplyDeleteDebbie it is SO WONDERFUL to see you posting again.
ReplyDeleteAs you say - it is often the spur of the moment things that are the best. Sometimes I think we over-think things.
ReplyDeleteIt is SO good to see you sewing again .I look forward to reading more of your sewing eploits .
ReplyDeleteMagic happens when you least expect it!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see your posts again!
ReplyDeleteFor me, the "no thought" projects don't have the baggage of high expectations. Perhaps a mental vision of what the results should be would be a better wording? Hmmm, maybe that's why I'm not getting much sewing done - too high expectations and I'm afraid the results will disappoint?
So nice to have you posting again! I was worried about you....
ReplyDeleteI've always looked forward to your posts, and I'm so glad that you are posting again. As for your skirt and blouse, they look so comfortable and so right--no wonder you like them.
ReplyDeleteYay! She's really back!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. I almost feel guilty because I wear and make so many maxi dresses. I somehow feel I should be working on much more difficult projects.
ReplyDeleteI love everything we make so can't wait to see new outfit. Welcome back, so glad to "see" you.
ReplyDeleteOther than making a long dress for a formal wedding last Friday (I started the dress thursday), I haven't done much sewing either. No inspiration. It happens. That said, I make a few basic favored skirts, tops and dresses. If it works, it just works, and that's why we repeat the ones we love.
ReplyDeleteI hope things improve for you. If I'd had time when I was in Ft. Myers last month, I'd have come to buy you a drink or 3 and cheer you up. Sadly, a 72 hour trip doesn't leave much time for anything.
Easy + quick = happy! I'm looking forward to pictures!
ReplyDeleteSo I take off for a week and don't check the blog feeder and...Debbie's posting! SO glad to see you writing and sewing again! Missed you!!!
ReplyDeleteLove to see you back. Saw this and thought of you...

Good for you! We want to see pic's when you can manage it!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so true. A simple tube skirt that took all of half an hour is my most worn item that I've made!
ReplyDeleteI think because you get instant gratification from it you are more likely to wear it, compared to something that took you a week and was unpicked three times.
I'm a little late in welcoming you back. I hope that things are getting better.
ReplyDeleteSorry I keyed my comment so bad. Of course I meant everything you make (certainly not me-lol) and the outfit you already showed. DUH! I will do better next time.
ReplyDeleteLove having you back!!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhhh. sign of relief
