Today, I MUST finish sewing a cammi bag and key fob. They have been hanging over my head, gobbling up my sewing mojo. What's sad is that the bag is already cut out and it's one of my easier patterns so it really won't take that long. It's just procrastination rearing its ugly head. After that, I think I'm going to suspend the cammi bag sales because I will soon have too much to do to take on additional projects.
If I clear that off the sewing table table … no … WHEN I clear that, I'm going to tackle some alterations on a couple of me-made dresses that I'm not ready to give up on and which I'll want to wear soon because our temps are definitely getting into the 80s now. The alterations will not be hard — just sewing straight up the sideseams into the sleeves. They just need to be done. If those go well, and fast, maybe I'll be inspired to fix up some of the projects on my ironing board, none of which is too difficult, just not exciting.
After that, I need to put some casual tops on my radar. I'm running seriously low on things to wear AFTER work and I have lots of nice knit prints so I do want to make them, not buy them.
Plus, there's shopping for wedding undergarments, house hunting, laundry, going to a movie, grocery shopping, thinking about packing, and more to do. Last weekend was a bust, but I really needed to do a lot of nothing after working so hard and so long, so it's OK. But this weekend, I need to get stuff done.
What's on your weekend schedule?
I have a bunch of to-dos on my ironing board--I'm surprised the thing hasn't collapsed by now! Plus finishing some blocks for a quilt top. Big ugly project: cleaning the yard. In snow country, early spring is nicknamed 'dog stuff season', because the snow melts and you have to clean up all recycled dog food from the yard. :-p.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend--I really enjoy reading your blog.
A ten hour shift at work starts off my weekend and with a sick husband at home I'm not sure how productive I will be in the sewing studio. I understand totally about your cammie bag dilemma. I sew for others too and it leaves me no energy to sew for me. (and that really pisses me off!) Hope you get everything done and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot on your plate but am sure you will successfully get everything done in due time. I just piddled away my entire week-long break from work, so I am sure the weekend will be more of the same! Ha.

Well, today is errand/groceries and as much laundry as I can get through. I was supervising a drama production for my jr. high age child (as assisting with costumes) and managed to get a few things cut out. I'd like to have a couple of hours to sew tomorrow....And dog walking of course! It's now "mud season" up here in Alberta, Canada, so I need to get out lighter fleece jackets and deal with some of the muddy foot and paw prints that missed the front mat. Good luck with your weekend list!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean -- maybe something goofy was going on with the stars last week. I was procrastinating getting my quilt layered and basted all week. I kept wandering into the sewing room, looking at it, biting my nails, and then coming up with something REALLY IMPORTANT that I had to do first, like dust the piano or pick up dog poop in the back yard. That's hard core procrastination for you!
ReplyDeleteJust noticed Valerie's comment -- it seems I wasn't the only person dealing with dog poop instead of fabric this week!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like another busy weekend for you. I've got to cut out a jacket muslin. I've lost 30 pounds and am trying to come up with a new wardrobe, my problem is I've not made much to fit me and all of the clothes I have are prett thread bare, so I'm basically starting from scratch! You've inspired me to lose weight. thank you.
ReplyDeleteI have a question though, when you take your photos then edit them with arrows and circles to show what you are talking about , what program are you using?
thanks again, Lorri
Well, it's 3:15 Sat afternoon and I've already frittered away most of the day. A girlfriend came over for breakfast, DH put on a wonderful big meal for us and then we did some girly shopping - it was supposed to be browsing but I managed to snag 2 pants and 2 tops for about $40. I 'should' be sewing but who can argue with liquidation pricing ? LOL
ReplyDeleteSunday now, and only some weeding done on saturday. But it is a long weekend so am still optimistic things might get done. Need to buy a ladder to trim wisteria and need to sand and stain two chairs for my upholstery class...perhaps I had better get out of bed!
ReplyDeleteI am finishing a purse/bag project started with a friend two (2) years ago. Her birthday is this week and since we both had 'issues' sewing this purse, finishing it up will be my birthday gift to her.
ReplyDeleteTypical bag pattern adds in all that interfacing/stiffener but doesn't let you know to taper it off at seams so you can fit the darn thing under your machine foot. I dislike it when patterns leave out the 'secret instruction' that makes it work. It's been kind of fugli.
A movie sounds like a good idea so I will have to go look at listings. Back to rain here - save the yard for another week. {and the dog poop}
I think it has something to do with spring, too. My schedule is filling up and I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteI've come to the same conclusion you have in terms of 'not having something to wear after work' and 'not having something nice/decent/not sweats or gym shorts and a tee shirt' sorts of things at home. In the old days, these were referred to as 'loungewear' and I don't have any of them. Additionally, on a recent trip to NYC, I realized that all I had to take with me was a ratty (and I do mean ratty) old raincoat, so I am going to make myself, for the first time ever, the sort of thing my mom always had, which was a really nice, lightweight wool dressy coat for spring and fall. That's my plan so far.
ReplyDeleteI know I am a day late & dollar short, love the teal dress. I am finally getting over a wadder and after a good nap cut out a skirt. Also want to cut a coat pattern for gifted fabric, but spent the better part of the evening talking on the phone.
ReplyDeleteWork for real work, packing up my kitchen so my brother and friend can lay a new floor in my flat starting tomorrow, packing a bag to move into a hotel for 3 nights, whilst men do floors etc, buying an air bed for floor laying man to sleep on, buying curtains rails, see men at work above............................I need to take a week off to do some sewing, all of my mojo has been replaced by buying even MORE fabric. Still Spring is round the corner, it's sunny in London and the birds are singing. Good luck with the house hunt Debbie I hope that you have found some good places to see. Inspirational weight loss by the way you have spurred me on and it is working, many thanks.
ReplyDeleteMama used to call it spring fever. Whatever it is, I got it, then throw in a time change and I'm worthless! Debbie you always have such cute print knits, where all do you get them???
