Shorts for the weekend

Still with the newly TNT pattern ... I started another pair of shorts this past weekend and continued on them for about an hour tonight. I have about one more hour left and they'll be done in time for the coming weekend when I'm meeting up with my friend from that job which shall only be mentioned slightly. We're going to go out to a sports bar somewhere and watch football games. And drink. (By the way, she's no longer at that place either! Interesting, right?)

Here's the front. The button/buttonhole and hems will be done tomorrow. I haven't been sewing during the week at all lately so I didn't want to push it.

Inside shot. The last of some red/blue paisley cotton for the waist facing, fly shield, and ...

... inside the pockets.

Speaking of pockets ... I think the back needs some. If only to break up the wide expanse of my backside. ;-)

  4. Great shorts! They are on my list of sewing NEEDS, but I keep sewing dresses and stuff instead. :-(

  5. Nothing like a great pair of shorts - we were just in Tampa for a family funeral and met up with family members downtown at the Floridian, which is just across the street (or around the corner depending) from the old Kress building (I did not realize what the name of the stores was before Kresgee), which is amazing. Not all that much left of, as my husband puts it 'the old Tampa' where he grew up in the 60s, but what there is, is very very neat.

  7. Topstitching looks great. Pockets on the backside need to be there. A girl can never have enough pockets

  11. Love the shorts, I need more as I live in them at home and don't have enough. OMG, I think I know that sign! If it is where I think, it's in ?Belmont Heights. I don't go into Tampa on weekdays too much, but do go every so often to the farmer's market on Hillsborough, and my fav yarn shop on Dale Mabry. If you get lunch time enough, I'd love to meet up sometime for lunch or walk. I know you wouldn't want to hang around after, given the traffic heading east at that time can be brutal, but maybe we can work out something midday sometime?

  12. I'm just catching up on blog reading, hence the late comment.....I happened to pull that pattern out of my stash last year, knocked out a pair of shorts and they fit on the first try. I did compare the crotch curve to my TNT pants and thought that it looked pretty close. Do you think it is too much to wish for...maybe Simplicity has a workable pant block?

Thank you for each and every comment. I appreciate them all, but I have to be honest and let you know that I'm usually bad about answering questions. I hope you understand that there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
