Good news: The A/C is fixed and we're cooling off.
Not too bad news: It was the thermostat and the repairman only charged for a service call.
Really bad news: The Marine swerved on a wet road and hit a telephone pole at about 50 MPH early this morning. (The call every mother dreads.)
Good news: He's physically just fine. Thank heaven for seat belts and air bags. And power poles that hold up the live power lines long enough to avoid serious injury.
Bad news: The car is probably totaled. The telephone pole definitely was, and according to the A/C repairman, the road was still shut down for repairs to it.
Good news: The cop who responded did not issue him a ticket.
Sad news: This was his dream car and he probably won't be able to find another like it in the short term. He had only made one payment on it so far. I know it's just a car and Tyler being safe is the most important thing. Still, it makes me sad for him.
Pain in the butt news: We may have to scramble to get him back to base on Saturday. He does have rental car insurance, so hopefully that will kick in. Will know more when he wakes up and starts the claim process.
Exhaustion news: I finally got to bed at 5:30 AM and then up again at 8:30 AM for the A/C repairman. I may not make much sewing progress today if I don't get in a nap.
Life is never dull.
So glad your son is unhurt. That is THE important part!
ReplyDeleteNo, life is never dull. I'm thankful your son is well.
ReplyDeleteOh my you are on quite the roller coaster this week! I am so glad to hear he is okay, they make cars to crumple so we stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that the only thing "hurt" is the car and not your son!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness he's safe! A car is, ultimately, just a car.
ReplyDeleteMy son had two crashes and lost two cars before he settled down and took driving seriously. Thank Heaven for seat belts is right. Live and learn.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Let me add this mother's relief that your son is OK even though his car is not. I hope things calm down for you really soon, and that your new job is as wonderful as you hope it will be.
ReplyDeleteGlad your pride and joy is doing well. Life can definitely be full of surprises. Good for you for maintaining a positive attitude:)
ReplyDeleteGlad Tyler is okay - sorry for him re: his car :(
ReplyDeleteAnd yay - the A/C is back on, get yourself some rest then sew, sew, sew! :)
Ahh Life!! What would we do without it!! ~.~!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear he's OK.

What an emotional roller coaster! Glad your son is fine and you have a new job to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteOh man.
ReplyDeleteI got my life's first call like that on Monday - my 7 yo had torn off the nail, skin and flesh down to the bone of his middle finger on his right hand. At the hospital they had to cut off 2 mm of the bone to make sure the flesh would re-grow.
Life is never dull - I'm happy your Marine is well.
Deb, I'm so glad Tyler's okay. The car can be replaced...the son, not. I'm so glad to hear about the job news too.
ReplyDeleteThankfully Tyler is all right. And yay on the job! Have really been enjoying your blog of late and your very positive attitude. Thanks for keeping up your blogging when life is what it is sometimes! :)

A safe son, and a new job vs a crumpled car and a fried A/C? Plus, bonus material from the stash? I'd say you are way ahead of the game. Happy Dance time! A.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your son is ok. Thank God.
ReplyDeleteI just got caught up and just wanted to say congratulations on the job! And also so relieved your son is ok. Good luck with catching up on your sleep!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the job & so sorry about your son. It's great that he's not hurt, even though his poor car is.
ReplyDelete:) smiles for the good news.
ReplyDelete:( for the bad news.
Sending good thoughts your way.
I'm so glad your son is okay. Too bad about his car, but better that it was wrecked and not your son! What a roller coaster you're on. Hope you get some rest.
ReplyDeleteMercy sakes, you have it going on there girly. I am glad the AC was nothing super expensive to fix. Very glad your son is okay!
ReplyDeleteWhat an alarming thing to happen! But the only thing that matters is that your precious son is safe.
ReplyDeleteOn the AC front, almost nobody has AC in this country so we never have to worry about it going wrong (we just get very hot when the sun shines). What we dread is the central heating boiler conking out - ours does regularly in the winter.
Oh my goodness, I'm glad to hear he's alright. I'm sorry to hear about his dream car, but it served him well in keeping him safe.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Tyler knows he has to report this to his 1st Sgt or the equivalent in the Marines!
ReplyDeleteHope all settles down and glad he is OK

Wow. I'd have one terrific headache. I'm glad your son wasn't hurt. Your attitude will get you through this.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I was just logging in to congratulate you on your new job. Poor Tyler! But at least he is unhurt, and cars and A/C are fixable however unpleasant the process may be.
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts your way this week.
So happy to hear your son is fine!!! Never a dull moment in your life!!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap! I'm so glad he's OK, and no one else was injured. This is the car he and his uncle just put the new transmission or other major part in? That's so sad.
ReplyDeleteAnd on the upside: JOB!!! (Yay) and AC was not expensive to fix. All good things.
Oy! Thank God he's okay, but still, what a terrible way for both of you to spend the night.
ReplyDeletePS - congratulations on the job!!!
I'm so glad Tyler was OK. That's an astonishing thing, considering the speed at which he was traveling.
ReplyDeleteFrom your previous post, congrats on the job!
Oh man - What an up and down week you're having ! Glad to hear Tyler's ok, and congrats on the job :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about life's road bumps. Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy that your son is safe and that you have a new job!
ReplyDeleteYikes! That's scary. I'm so glad to hear that your son is safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your son is fine, life is full of surprises
ReplyDeleteReally really happy that your son is ok, the ac was cheaply fixed and you have the job.I am sure it will be a lead in to a long term position either there or at another firm. Having a paycheck again will be such a stress reliever as will not being responsible for all the maintenance issues/bills as a woman on her own has to deal with in a large house. It is just wonderful that you got the position and can get on with your new life that is out there waiting for you to be part of it. mssewcrazy
ReplyDeleteSo glad your Marine is okay. Could have been a lot worse, I guess. Life has a way of handing us curve-balls and I reckon it's so we don't get too complacent. You have a great attitude and are a positive role-model for your sons.
ReplyDeleteHow utterly stressful! So glad your son is ok and that you are keeping it together. And you are very sanguine, all things considered. I would probably have lost my mind over that series of events...
ReplyDeleteWhat a crazy week. I am so glad he is OK. Get some rest as soon as that AC guy leaves. You deserve it!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your son's car, but I'm glad he's safe
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Tyler is okay. I'm sorry about his car, that is sad news. Hope you got some sewing done. g
ReplyDeleteGlad he was ok. Cars can be replaced. Life can't.
ReplyDeleteThank heavens, he is safe. Now you need to rest up!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the Marine but so happy he is okay.
ReplyDeleteWhat a close call. So glad your son is okay!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, thank the Lord he is ok! I live in fear of something like that happening to my girls. Don't worry about the sewing - it can wait.
ReplyDeleteYeah, on the job; glad it was just the thermostat; and so glad Tyler is OK. It's hard to lose a much-loved car, but so glad he wasn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteThankful that everything seems to have turned out OK despite some very scary moments.
ReplyDeleteGlad he was ok! Great news on the job! Never a dull moment around your house :-).
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your son's accident; huge relief that's he wasn't injured. Yep, life is anything but dull! Hope things with the car/insurance get settled soon.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
It is unfortunate about the car but I am so happy to hear your son is OK.
